ISLAMABAD — June 17, 2026
Pakistan is likely to announce a significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices by Rs. 70 to Rs. 100 per litre, as global crude oil prices continue to decline sharply in international markets.
According to sources close to the Ministry of Energy, the federal government is expected to pass on the benefit of falling international petroleum prices to consumers in the upcoming fortnightly price review.
Global benchmark Brent Crude has seen a considerable drop in recent weeks, creating room for a historic reduction in fuel prices at the pump. If implemented, this would be one of the largest single-round price cuts in Pakistan’s recent history.
The move is expected to provide significant relief to millions of households, reduce transportation costs, and ease inflationary pressures across the country. Business and industrial sectors have welcomed the anticipated reduction.
An official announcement is expected on July 1, 2026, following the government’s formal price-setting review. The Ministry of Energy has yet to issue an official statement.
