SAHIWAL: The Office of the Ombudsperson Punjab has stepped up efforts to promote safe, dignified, and inclusive workplaces for women by reviewing the implementation of anti-harassment measures in educational institutions across the Sahiwal region.
Consultant Qasim Bashir Chaudhry and Law Officer Muhammad Abdullah from the Ombudsperson Punjab Regional Office Sahiwal held separate meetings with Director Education (Secondary) Khadim Hussain Mohal and Director Education (Elementary) Ahsan Fareed Abid to assess institutional compliance with workplace protection laws.
The meetings reviewed the establishment and effectiveness of harassment committees in educational institutions and emphasized the need to prominently display the anti-harassment code of conduct on campuses. Officials also stressed the importance of strict enforcement of workplace protection laws and policies to safeguard employees’ rights.
The delegation noted that educational institutions play a vital role in fostering a culture of respect, equality, and professionalism. They said effective implementation of anti-harassment regulations is essential to ensuring that women can work in a secure environment free from fear and discrimination.
Reaffirming its commitment to the full enforcement of anti-harassment regulations across Punjab, the Ombudsperson’s Office said harassment-free workplaces are key to strengthening women’s confidence, increasing workforce participation, and improving institutional efficiency and long-term development.
Officials added that awareness campaigns, monitoring mechanisms, and institutional guidance will continue to strengthen compliance and encourage educational institutions to adopt best practices for workplace safety and inclusion.
