ISLAMABAD — The Ministry of Commerce has decided to grant a temporary 60-day exemption on specific export items to Iran in order to facilitate trade between the two countries.
According to sources, the exemption will remain in effect from July 2 to August 30, 2026. Officials say the decision was made because the absence of a direct banking channel with Iran had been creating difficulties for exporters, and the temporary measure aims to prevent disruption to export activities.
Under the exemption:
By air route, exporters of bananas, mangoes, and meat to Iran will be granted relief.
By land route, the exemption will also apply to exports of rice, potatoes, meat, gelatin, corn, sesame, and animal feed.
The Ministry stated that the move is intended to sustain bilateral trade relations and protect exporters from losses caused by the lack of a functioning banking channel. Relevant departments have reportedly been instructed to ensure timely facilitation during the exemption period.
