DAMASCUS — A powerful explosion ripped through a café in the Syrian capital of Damascus, killing five people and injuring sixteen others, according to local reports.
The blast reportedly occurred during regular business hours as customers were present, causing panic in the surrounding area and partial damage to nearby buildings.
Ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after the explosion, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals, where several are said to be in critical condition.
