Washington: US President Donald Trump has stirred fresh controversy after declaring himself “the best president in the history of Israel.” In an interview with CNBC, the 80-year-old president told host Joe Kernen: “It’s incomprehensible to me how any Jewish person could vote for a Democrat. I have been the best president in the history of Israel.” He then trailed off mid-sentence attempting to claim he was favored by 99 percent of the Israeli public.
The remark drew sharp mockery on social media. One user wrote sarcastically, “Does Trump think he’s the president of Israel?” Another commented, “Someone should tell him he’s not the president of Israel — he’s supposed to be the president of the United States.” A third user joked, “Oh okay, we live in the United States of Israel, makes sense, makes sense.”
The comment comes amid months of scrutiny over Trump’s mental and physical fitness. During the Iran conflict, a profanity-laden Truth Social post in which he ordered Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz left many stunned that a sitting US president would use such language publicly.
Trump has also boasted about taking the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) test multiple times under official supervision, claiming a perfect score of 30 out of 30 as proof of his “superior intelligence.” Medical experts, however, have clarified that the MoCA is not an IQ test but a screening tool designed to detect mild cognitive impairment and early signs of dementia.
Meanwhile, Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, mocked Trump on X (formerly Twitter), nominating him for a Nobel Peace Prize for ending the “same war” 38 times. “No president in history has ended the same war this many times,” Hunter wrote. “Our beloved leader has ended the war with Iran at least 38 times, by CNN’s count. No president before him has done that. And he’s nowhere close to actually ending it.”
