Punjab Launches ‘Rehmat Card’ Programme for Widows and Orphans

HAFIZABAD: Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq has said that students are the nation’s greatest asset and the architects of Pakistan’s bright future, urging them to equip themselves with modern education, leadership qualities, and professional skills to contribute to the country’s development.
He expressed these views while addressing the Student Proctors’ Oath-Taking Ceremony at the KIPS College Hafizabad Campus, where he also administered the oath to the newly elected student proctors.
The ceremony was attended by Director and Chairman Zaheer Ahmed Bhoon, Principal Kashif Jalal Baig, Head of the Urdu Department Hafiz Muhammad Aziz-ur-Rehman, faculty members, and a large number of students.
The deputy commissioner emphasized that quality education is the cornerstone of national progress and prosperity. He said every student should have access to modern education in science, mathematics, computer studies, and information technology to meet the demands of the future.
He urged students to cultivate discipline, integrity, leadership, and strong moral values alongside academic excellence, enabling them to become responsible citizens capable of contributing to Pakistan’s peace, stability, and economic growth.
Addressing the newly elected proctors, Abdul Razzaq advised them to lead by example through responsible conduct, commitment to academic excellence, and active participation in co-curricular activities while promoting positive values within their educational institution.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the deputy commissioner administered the oath to the newly elected proctors, who pledged to perform their responsibilities with dedication and sincerity while working for the peace, prosperity, stability, and progress of Pakistan.
Punjab Launches ‘Rehmat Card’ Programme
Separately, Punjab Secretary Zakat, Arfan Ahmad Sandhu, announced the launch of the Punjab Government’s “Rehmat Card” Programme, describing it as a major welfare initiative aimed at supporting widows and orphaned children across the province.
During a visit to the District Zakat Committee Office Hafizabad, Sandhu said that under the programme, 50,000 deserving widows and orphaned children across Punjab, including Hafizabad, will receive Rs100,000 each. He added that online registration has commenced on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, enabling eligible beneficiaries to register easily through their mobile phones.
The visit was also attended by ADCR Tanveer Yaseen, Deputy Administrator Zakat Gujranwala Muhammad Afzal Ranjaha, and District Zakat Officer Mian Sanaullah.
On the occasion, Mian Sanaullah briefed the provincial secretary on the performance of the District Zakat Committee and the welfare initiatives being implemented under the Punjab Government’s social protection programme.
