Punjab Governor Calls for Greater Religious Tolerance During Visit to Hazrat Ali’s (RA) Shrine in Najaf

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has called for promoting religious tolerance and harmony in society, stressing the importance of following the teachings of Hazrat Ali (RA) to foster unity and discourage sectarianism.

During his official visit to Iraq, the governor visited the holy shrine of Hazrat Ali (RA) in the city of Najaf, where he offered Nawafil prayers and special supplications for Pakistan’s peace, security, progress, and prosperity.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Saleem Haider Khan said that paying respects at the shrine of Hazrat Ali (RA) was a deeply moving and spiritually fulfilling experience.

He recalled the saying of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him): “For whoever I am his Maula, Ali is also his Maula,” and said the teachings of Hazrat Ali (RA) continue to offer valuable guidance for building a peaceful and just society.

The governor emphasised that Pakistan needs to promote the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and unity among all communities. He said eliminating religious sectarianism and encouraging social harmony are essential for strengthening national cohesion and ensuring lasting peace.
