Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, has ordered priority investigations into two brutal crimes: the rape and murder of a young girl in Balochistan’s Noshki district and an acid attack on a woman in Karachi.
Tarar sent official communications to the inspector generals of police in Balochistan and Sindh, directing them to carry out full, law-compliant investigations and ensure swift justice for the victims. He emphasized that both cases must be treated with urgency given their gravity, and has asked for comprehensive progress reports.
Noshki Child Rape-Murder
In the Ahmad Wal area of Noshki, an eight-to-nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed. Police have registered a case at Ahmad Wal police station and arrested three suspects, with investigations continuing. The child’s body was moved to Quetta Civil Hospital for autopsy.
Karachi Acid Attack
In Karachi’s Upper Gizri neighborhood within Clifton, a 35-year-old domestic worker, Mumtaz Ismail, suffered severe burns after an unidentified man on a motorcycle threw acid on her. An FIR was lodged at Clifton police station on her complaint, and she was hospitalized in critical condition.
Provincial-Level Action
Sindh’s Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar have also taken strict notice of the Karachi incident, directing that the victim receive the best medical treatment and that the suspect be apprehended immediately. In Balochistan, Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove has sought a detailed report from local police authorities over the Noshki case.
