Former US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has sharply criticized political leaders who continue providing US military and financial aid to Israel, as well as Christian religious leadership that has remained silent on child deaths in Gaza, warning that this silence would demand a “reckoning.”
Greene wrote on X: “Tens of thousands of children have been killed and many more maimed, disabled, or orphaned for life, yet America’s elected leaders keep sending money and military support. The American Christian church is largely silent.” She added, “That day, I don’t think it’s going to end well” — without clarifying what “that day” referred to, though the remark is widely interpreted as an allusion to religious judgment or reckoning.
Greene’s criticism carries particular weight given her past political alignment. She served in the US House of Representatives since 2021 and for years was regarded as one of Donald Trump’s most prominent MAGA-aligned supporters. However, in late 2025 her relationship with Trump deteriorated sharply, and she resigned from Congress on January 5, 2026, citing disagreements over US support for Israel, foreign policy, and healthcare, among other issues.
The statement comes as Israeli military operations continue killing Palestinians in Gaza despite the ceasefire. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, 1,344 Palestinians have been killed and 4,464 wounded in Israeli operations since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025. Overall, Palestinian authorities say the death toll since the war began in October 2023 has surpassed 73,500, with more than 174,000 wounded. On September 7, Israeli strikes killed five more Palestinians in Gaza, including two children.
Signs of dissent have also emerged within the US administration. Special envoy Jared Kushner said on September 6 that the Israeli government had been “a little irrational” on Gaza due to domestic political pressure, expressing Washington’s concern over ceasefire violations. Greene is no longer a member of Congress, but her remarks reflect a growing debate within the American right over continued US support for Israel.
