IG Punjab Orders High-Alert Security Across Province for Friday Prayers

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem has directed police authorities to maintain high-alert security across the province, including Lahore, on the occasion of Friday prayers.
Following the IG Punjab’s directives, security arrangements at mosques, Imambargahs, shrines, markets and other sensitive locations have been further strengthened. Effective police patrolling and surveillance have also been ensured around major highways, places of worship and business centres.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed District Police Officers (DPOs) and senior police officers to remain present in the field and personally monitor security arrangements.
He said maintaining law and order and protecting the lives, property and assets of citizens were among the foremost priorities of the Punjab Police, adding that no effort would be spared to achieve these objectives.
On the special directions of the IG Punjab, police officers also met citizens at various mosques after Friday prayers, listened to their concerns and took necessary measures for their resolution.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed senior officers to listen to citizens’ complaints at their doorsteps and ensure their prompt resolution, stressing that police officials should remain accessible to the public and play an active role in addressing their concerns.
