ULAANBAATAR — Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, 58, has surprised social media users after a video showed him bench pressing 100kg for 20 reps during a visit to a military unit. Dressed formally, the president removed his jacket, completed the full set without visible strain, then stood up, shook hands with the officers and soldiers around him, and calmly put his jacket back on.
The footage went viral, with one user writing: “Imagine running an entire country and still finding time to bench press 100kg. I can barely get out of bed on time.” Khurelsukh, a former army officer, has served as Mongolia’s president since 2021 and previously held senior posts including prime minister. Reports note he has a background in bodybuilding and martial arts, plays guitar in a rock band called Palz, and is reportedly the founder of a Harley Davidson fan club in the country.
