PM Shehbaz Sharif Arrives in New York for 81st UN General Assembly Session

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in New York to represent Pakistan at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, accompanied by a compact Pakistani delegation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi are accompanying the Prime Minister on the visit.
The Prime Minister will address the UN General Assembly on September 25, 2026, presenting Pakistan’s position on the evolving regional and global security situation while emphasizing the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
In his address, he will highlight Pakistan’s active diplomatic and mediation efforts to end regional tensions and promote peace and stability, while also outlining Pakistan’s priorities on key global issues including sustainable development, climate change, the fight against terrorism, Islamophobia, and global economic challenges.
The Prime Minister will draw the international community’s attention to the long-standing occupation and denial of the right to self-determination in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
During the session, the Prime Minister will participate in several high-level meetings on development, climate action, and other important issues to present Pakistan’s viewpoint, and is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with various world leaders and the UN Secretary-General.
