LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana on Wednesday directed police officers to strengthen field operations to curb crime in the city, accelerate the repatriation of illegally residing Afghan nationals and intensify the crackdown on elements involved in theft, pickpocketing and drug peddling.
He issued the directives while presiding over a meeting at the Capital City Police Headquarters to review the performance of the Civil Lines and City divisions.
The meeting reviewed the overall performance of the two divisions, crime-control measures and other professional matters in detail.
DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, SSP Investigation Muhammad Naveed and SSP Operations Abdullah Ahmad attended the meeting, along with SPs, ASPs, circle officers, SHOs and investigation in-charges of the two divisions.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana directed police to take effective measures to prevent pickpocketing and mobile phone theft at markets and on public transport. He ordered stern action against networks and shopkeepers allegedly involved in purchasing and dealing in stolen mobile phones.
He also directed police to increase decoy operations and foot patrols at crime hotspots to deter street crime and strengthen policing in vulnerable areas.
The CCPO ordered the immediate arrest of Category-B proclaimed offenders, target offenders and active wanted suspects. He directed police to continue operations against drug peddlers and take effective measures to disrupt their supply networks.
CCPO Lahore also directed officers to make full use of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s surveillance network for crime prevention and detection.
He said addressing citizens’ complaints was a top priority for the police and directed officers to ensure prompt registration of cases and merit-based investigations.
He also ordered the timely and merit-based disposal of applications received through the Complaint Management System.
