TEL AVIV / BEIRUT — A series of deadly attacks struck Israel on Sunday, leaving five civilians dead across multiple incidents, while a separate confrontation in South Lebanon claimed the life of an Israeli military commander, significantly escalating tensions across the region.
In the coastal city of Jaffa, a car bomb explosion tore through a crowded area, killing two Israeli civilians and wounding several others. Emergency services rushed to the scene as security forces cordoned off the area and launched an immediate investigation.
In two separate shooting incidents occurring elsewhere in the country on the same day, three additional Israeli civilians were killed. Israeli security forces swiftly responded to both locations and initiated pursuit of the attackers.
Meanwhile, in South Lebanon, an Israeli military commander was killed during intense clashes with Hezbollah fighters. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the officer’s death, though further details regarding his identity and rank were withheld pending notification of his family.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s office condemned all the attacks as acts of terrorism and pledged a firm response. The back-to-back strikes have raised the security alert level across Israel, with authorities warning citizens to remain vigilant.
Regional analysts warn that the simultaneous nature of the attacks, combined with the loss of a field commander on the Lebanese front, signals a dangerous and coordinated escalation that could have wider implications for an already volatile Middle East.
