LAHORE: Lahore Police on Thursday paid tribute to its martyrs on the 17th death anniversary of Inspector Rana Farooq Ahmed and the 21st death anniversary of Head Constable Muhammad Amin, who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
On the directions of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana, SP Headquarters Muhammad Khalid Saeed visited the graves of the martyred officers, laid floral wreaths and offered Fateha. A smartly turned-out police contingent also presented a guard of honour at their final resting places.
Inspector Rana Farooq Ahmed was martyred in a suicide attack on the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) building on October 15, 2009. Head Constable Muhammad Amin embraced martyrdom on October 15, 2005, while serving with the Mujahid Squad during an operation against criminal elements.
Paying tribute to the fallen officers, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that police officers and personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty were a source of pride and a valuable asset to the department. He said their sacrifices would always be remembered.
The CCPO said every officer and member of Lahore Police stood as an iron wall against anti-social elements. He added that the sacrifices of 343 police martyrs in protecting citizens’ lives and property and maintaining law and order served as a guiding light for the force.
He said operations against criminal elements would continue with the determination to carry forward the mission of the martyrs. He also emphasized that the welfare of their families remained a key responsibility of the department.
The CCPO said Lahore Police was providing the families of martyrs with housing facilities, financial assistance for their daughters’ marriages, quality education and the best possible healthcare services.
SP Headquarters Muhammad Khalid Saeed said the sacrifices of the martyrs would remain alive in the hearts of police personnel. He reaffirmed that every officer and member of the force remained committed to the spirit of sacrifice and would continue performing duties with dedication and determination to protect citizens.
