LAHORE: Lahore Police have arrested 5,212 suspects linked to 2,410 criminal gangs this year and traced more than 34,000 cases, recovering stolen property worth over Rs889.6 million, according to a police spokesperson.
The recovered valuables include 126 tolas of gold, 72 cars, 1,622 motorcycles, 5,869 mobile phones and 69 laptops. The spokesperson said the recovered vehicles, electronic devices and other valuables had been returned to their rightful owners.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said the arrests and recoveries were the result of effective planning, a coordinated strategy and teamwork by Lahore Police.
He said recovering stolen belongings and returning them to their rightful owners remained among the department’s key priorities.
The CCPO directed police officers to take action against those facilitating criminal gangs and broaden the scope of operations against criminal elements.
He also instructed supervisory officers to personally monitor crime-control measures and efforts to maintain law and order.
Emphasising the need for effective policing, Kamyana called for intensified operations to curb criminal activities and arrest proclaimed offenders and other anti-social elements.
