LAHORE: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has strongly condemned the cowardly and heinous firing attack on the vehicle of Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro, General Secretary of PMA Centre.
In a statement, PMA Lahore said the incident was not merely an attack on an individual but an assault on the entire medical community and the leadership of the Pakistan Medical Association, which has consistently raised its voice for the rights of doctors and patients.
The association expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah that Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro remained safe in the attack and extended its full solidarity to him and his family.
PMA Lahore has demanded the immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and the arrest of all those involved in the firing incident. It has also called for a high-level investigation and the provision of foolproof security to Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro.
The association further urged the government to take effective measures to ensure the safety and security of doctors across Pakistan, stressing that violence against medical professionals was unacceptable and would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
PMA Lahore warned that if the culprits were not arrested immediately, it would be compelled to announce a strong protest strategy in consultation with PMA Centre and PMA Punjab.
Reaffirming its commitment to the medical community, PMA Lahore stated that it stood shoulder to shoulder with PMA Centre and would continue to raise its voice against violence and threats directed at doctors.
