The federal government has initiated preparations for the 27th Constitutional Amendment, which aims to amend Article 243 to officially recognize and include the rank of Field Marshal in the Constitution — a title reportedly awarded to the Army Chief following the success of Operation Bunyān-ul-Marsūs and the Battle of Haq.
The proposed amendment may also cover judicial reforms, including the distribution of executive magistrate powers at the district level, and the introduction of a uniform national curriculum across the country.
Minister of State for Law Barrister Aqeel Malik confirmed that discussions on the 27th Amendment are underway but said that “formal drafting has not yet begun.”
