PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohaib Afridi has claimed that PTI founder Imran Khan has been kept in isolation at Adiala Jail since November 4 and that “disturbing reports” about his condition are appearing in international media.
Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Afridi said he and other PTI leaders were not allowed to meet Imran Khan despite visiting Adiala Jail and approaching the Islamabad High Court.
He announced that PTI workers will protest outside the Islamabad High Court and also visit Adiala Jail again to demand access to their party founder.
The chief minister also criticised the federal government over the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, saying KP has not received its due share since 2018. He said the federation owes KP Rs 1,350 billion and that the merged districts are being deprived of their rightful funds.
Afridi said seminars are being held in universities on the NFC issue, and meetings will be held with all political parties to build a joint stance for provincial rights.
He also alleged that he is being treated unfairly, claiming his name has been added to the stop list. He said efforts are being made to push the province towards confrontation, but his government will avoid conflict.
