LAHORE: An attempt to illegally seize Food Department land in Mandi Bahauddin has been successfully thwarted, officials confirmed. The move was taken under the instructions of Secretary Price Control Dr. Kiran Khurshid.
According to the spokesperson for the Price Control Commodities Management, the Additional Commissioner Revenue launched an inquiry after reports emerged about efforts to acquire 10 marlas of Food Department land on Railway Road, Mandi Bahauddin through fraudulent transfer deeds. During the investigation, transfer numbers 7511 and 7512 were found to be fake and bogus, and both entries were subsequently cancelled. The land has now been restored to the department.
The spokesperson added that the warehouse at Chak No. 51, Mandi Bahauddin Railway Road had been fraudulently transferred in 2005 by Abdul Wahab, son of Abdul Sattar, in collusion with a local patwari. The land, measuring 20 kanals and 17 marlas with a complete boundary wall, has always been under the ownership and cultivation rights of the Government of Punjab and remains in the Food Department’s possession.
The fraudulent attempt aimed to illegally occupy a valuable 10-marla portion of government property. Following the intervention, all illegal structures on the site were demolished, and control has been returned to the District Food Controller’s office.
Secretary Dr. Kiran Khurshid has ordered a full inquiry to identify and punish officers involved in the fake transfers in accordance with the law.
This action highlights the government’s commitment to protecting public property and ensuring accountability in administrative processes.
