LAHORE: Punjab Police have intensified operations against organised criminal groups across the province, including Lahore, resulting in the arrest of nine operatives belonging to four gangs over the past 24 hours.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, security forces recovered 93 weapons, including Kalashnikov rifles, pistols, rifles, revolvers and shotguns, along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition from the suspects.
In addition to weapons, police also seized two vehicles, six motorcycles, 12 mobile phones, four cattle, and cash amounting to Rs1 million during the operations.
The spokesperson said that during encounters with criminal elements, one suspect was killed, while seven others were arrested in an injured condition.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has directed police formations across the province to further accelerate operations against criminal elements, reiterating that no leniency will be shown toward organised crime groups involved in serious offences.
Punjab Police said the ongoing operations are part of a broader strategy to curb crime, ensure public safety, and maintain law and order across the province.
