PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Stresses Federal-Provincial Cooperation

ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Monday, emphasizing the need for enhanced coordination between federal and provincial governments to ensure peace, security, and development in the province.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister underscored that cooperation between federal and provincial administrations is essential for the progress and prosperity of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Security Cooperation Imperative
PM Shehbaz declared federal-provincial collaboration indispensable for maintaining law and order in the province, calling on the provincial government to intensify efforts in establishing peace and security.
“The provincial government must strengthen provincial institutions for counter-terrorism operations,” the Prime Minister stated, adding that both federal and provincial governments will continue joint efforts for the complete elimination of terrorism.
Constitutional Responsibilities
The Prime Minister urged the provincial government to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities regarding peace and public welfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The provincial government is empowered — measures should be taken for the health and education of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” PM Shehbaz said.
Federal Commitment to KP
Reaffirming the federal government’s commitment, the Prime Minister emphasized that Islamabad has always been dedicated to the betterment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s people.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is an important unit of the federation. The federal government will continue its full efforts within its jurisdiction for the prosperity of the province’s people,” he remarked.
Development Assurances
PM Shehbaz assured cooperation within the federal domain for development projects, infrastructure improvement, education, health, and employment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Prime Minister noted that the federal government is committed to a vision of taking all provinces along and ensuring uniform development across the country.
“Close ties and effective communication between the federation and provinces are essential for national development and public service,” he stated. “Through mutual consultation and collective action, the goals of national unity, stability, and prosperity can be effectively achieved.”
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to bridge federal-provincial relations and address security challenges facing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid the province’s struggle with terrorism and development needs.
