HYDERABAD — A significant oil and gas discovery has been made in Tando Allahyar district of Sindh province, marking a major development for Pakistan’s energy sector, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced on Wednesday.
According to an OGDCL spokesperson, the Dars West-3 well is expected to produce 9.7 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. The discovery will also yield approximately 580 barrels of condensate daily, adding further value to the find.
The spokesperson confirmed that the extracted gas will be processed and subsequently fed into the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline network, ensuring supply to domestic and industrial consumers across the country.
The discovery comes as a significant boost for energy-starved Pakistan, which has been grappling with chronic gas shortages. OGDCL officials expressed optimism that further exploration in the region could yield additional reserves.
Pakistan has been ramping up domestic exploration activities in recent years to reduce its dependence on costly imported energy and strengthen its energy security.
