Lahore: The Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Amir-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) have upgraded three state-of-the-art lecture theaters at a cost of Rs40 million, aligning them with international standards to enhance medical education and training.
The newly renovated lecture theaters, named after renowned Muslim scientists Ibn-e-Sina, Al-Razi, and Al-Zahrawi, were formally inaugurated by Principal Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal. The ceremony was attended by senior faculty members including Prof. Tasleem Raza, Prof. Muneeza Saeed, Medical Superintendent LGH Dr. Faryad Hussain, and other distinguished participants.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Farooq Afzal said that naming the lecture theaters after prominent Muslim scholars aims to inspire young medical professionals to draw motivation from their intellectual heritage and contribute to modern medical science. He added that graduates of PGMI and AMC are serving as “medical ambassadors” of Pakistan worldwide, earning recognition through their professional excellence.
He further stated that the upgraded facilities are equipped with modern teaching technologies, significantly improving the learning environment for students and faculty. These enhancements are expected to promote research-oriented education and enable trainee doctors to provide healthcare services based on contemporary scientific principles.
Earlier, Additional Dean PGMI Dr. Shaista Mubeen briefed participants on ongoing academic and research initiatives. Faculty members, including Prof. Tasleem Raza, Prof. Muneeza Saeed, and Prof. Nudrat Sohail, appreciated the administration’s efforts to elevate educational standards.
Participants later visited the upgraded facilities and described the initiative as a transformative step toward improving medical education.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, honorary shields were presented to Prof. Tasleem Raza, Prof. Muneeza Saeed, and Superintendent Engineer Esa Janjua in recognition of their contributions.
