Islamabad: Chairman Capital Development Authority (Capital Development Authority) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf met with Ambassador of Azerbaijan Khazar Farhadov at CDA Headquarters on Thursday, where matters of urban development, beautification projects, and bilateral cooperation were discussed.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the CDA Chairman highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, particularly in urban planning and landscape development initiatives in Islamabad.
Ambassador Khazar Farhadov noted that Pakistan and Azerbaijan share deep-rooted cultural and historical ties. He said that Baku and Islamabad were declared sister cities in 2024, reflecting growing cooperation between the two countries.
He added that experts from Baku are actively working with CDA on beautification projects in Islamabad. These include the renovation and improvement of Saidpur Village, Melody Food Street, and 7th Avenue. He further stated that horticulture specialists from Baku are also providing support at CDA’s Gardenia Hub Model Nursery.
Chairman CDA appreciated the contributions of Azerbaijani experts, particularly in enhancing the aesthetic appeal of key recreational and commercial areas of the capital. He reaffirmed CDA’s commitment to fully utilizing the expertise of Baku’s horticulture and urban planning teams.
Sohail Ashraf emphasized that there are strong opportunities for expanding investment and technical cooperation between the two countries, particularly in urban development and municipal services.
Both sides also discussed the importance of promoting cultural exchanges and strengthening institutional linkages. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further deepen bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation for the development of Islamabad.
