Lahore: Progress on the Chief Minister Punjab Local Roads Program is continuing across the province, as rehabilitation work on rural link roads moves forward under ongoing supervision.
An important review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth, where detailed progress on the rehabilitation of rural link roads under the program was assessed.
The meeting was attended online by Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, along with Special Secretary, Additional Secretaries, Chief Engineers, and XENs.
Officials briefed the meeting that, on the direction of the Chief Minister Punjab, a total of 1,530 schemes have been included in the program, while work on 444 local roads is currently underway across the province. So far, 20 percent of earthwork has been completed.
It was further informed that approximately 3,310 kilometers of rural link roads will be rehabilitated under the initiative. The Provincial Minister directed field officers to accelerate the pace of work and ensure timely completion of all projects.
Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth emphasized that work on the remaining roads should be initiated without delay and stressed strict monitoring to meet the June completion deadline.
The program is aimed at improving rural connectivity, facilitating transport, and enhancing access to markets and services for local communities across Punjab.
