Abu Dhabi/Tehran — Tensions in the Gulf region have reached a dangerous flashpoint as Iran launched four cruise missiles at the United Arab Emirates, marking a dramatic and alarming escalation that has raised fears of an all-out regional conflict.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, three of the four missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed by the country’s air defence systems, while the fourth fell into the sea causing no significant damage. However, in a simultaneous attack, Iranian drones targeted the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, sparking a major fire in the strategic coastal area.
Gulf media reports indicate that emergency response teams have been deployed to contain the blaze in Fujairah’s industrial oil zone. The attacks come amid already heightened confrontation between the United States and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
Global oil markets are bracing for a sharp spike in crude prices as the international community watches with grave concern. Responses from the United Nations, Western powers, and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states are expected imminently.
