LAHORE: On the directions of the President of the All Pakistan Police Sports Board, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, the annual Inter-District Police Sports Competitions are underway across the province.
As part of the ongoing events, wrestling, wushu, and weightlifting competitions were held at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh, where players from various police units participated with enthusiasm and delivered impressive performances.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, in wrestling competitions, Sports Wing Lahore secured first position, the Anti-Riot Force stood second, while SPU claimed third position. In wushu competitions, Police Lines Lahore took first place, followed by the Dolphin Force in second position and the Anti-Riot Force in third. In weightlifting, Sports Wing Lahore again secured first position, Anti-Riot Force came second, and Elite Squad Lahore finished third.
Inspector General Abdul Kareem appreciated the players for their outstanding performances and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence. Chief Sports Officer Athar Ismail Amjad stated that talented players would be selected through these Inter-District tournaments to build strong police teams in various sports, with the potential to represent national teams in the future.
Separately, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem took notice of a tragic incident involving the murder of three individuals, including two women, over a domestic dispute within the jurisdiction of Police Station Taxila, Rawalpindi.
He sought a detailed report from the RPO Rawalpindi and directed the CPO Rawalpindi to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused using all available resources.
The Punjab Police spokesperson confirmed that senior officers and forensic teams have reached the crime scene and collected evidence. The CPO Rawalpindi stated that special teams have been constituted to apprehend the suspects, who are expected to be arrested soon.
