LAHORE: The Debating Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore successfully concluded its four-day Debating Gala 2026, held in commemoration of Marka-e-Haq. The event, organized under the supervision of the Senior Tutor Office at the City Campus, featured three main segments: Declamation, Parliamentary Debate, and Model United Nations (MUN) competitions.
Chief Executive Officer of Seasons Group of Industries, Dr. Musaddiq Asif, presided over the closing ceremony. He was joined by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani in distributing shields and trophies among the winners.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Ex-President of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council Dr. Muhammad Arshad, Former Director General Extension Livestock Punjab Dr. Asif Salman Sahi, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof. Dr. Kamran Ashraf, Senior Tutor Prof. Dr. Yasin Tipu, Convener UVAS Debating Society Dr. Maryam Javed, along with deans, directors, dignitaries, and students from over 60 educational institutions across Pakistan. More than 700 students participated in the competitions.
Government College University Lahore clinched the Best Team Trophy in all three debating categories, while Allama Iqbal Medical College secured the runner-up position. Forman Christian College was awarded runner-up Best Delegation in MUN. Punjab University, Government College University, and Fatima Jinnah Medical College also featured among the winners in the Parliamentary Debate format.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Musaddiq Asif emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and encouraged students to create their own businesses rather than seeking jobs. He also congratulated Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani on assuming the office of Vice-Chancellor at UVAS.
Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their courage and professionalism during Operation Bunyan Al Marsoos, which led to a decisive victory against Indian aggression. He appreciated the outstanding performances of the students and commended the organizers for successfully hosting the event. He urged students to strictly follow university rules, focus on their studies, and contribute meaningfully to society. Highlighting his vision, the Vice-Chancellor stated that enhancing the quality of education and research, and producing graduates of international standards, are among his top priorities. He added that UVAS graduates should play a leading role in the development of Pakistan’s livestock, poultry, dairy, meat, and pharmaceutical industries.
Dr. Muhammad Arshad expressed satisfaction over Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani’s appointment, saying it would further elevate the university’s standards in education and research. He also paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces, stating that no enemy would dare cast a malicious eye on the country.
Dr. Maryam Javed presented a vote of thanks at the end of the ceremony.
