Islamabad, Pakistani security forces achieved a major success in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, neutralizing a high-value foreign terrorist commander along with four accomplices.
According to security sources, the slain commander — identified as Umar alias Jan Mir alias Tor Saqib (also referred to as Saqib Tor) — was a key figure in the banned Fitna al-Khawarij network. He carried a bounty of Rs 3 million (30 lakh rupees) on his head and was wanted for masterminding multiple terrorist attacks targeting security forces and civilians.
The operation took place in the Spinwam region, where the foreign commander had reportedly established an extensive network of underground bunkers, tunnels, and explosive devices (IEDs) around the Bobali Mosque area to hinder security operations.
Security sources described the encounter as intense, after which all five terrorists were killed. The elimination of this high-profile commander is expected to significantly disrupt militant activities in the area and contribute to restoring peace in North Waziristan.
This operation comes amid ongoing efforts under Pakistan’s counter-terrorism campaign to eliminate remaining militant networks in the former tribal districts.
