The identities of four migrant farm workers killed in a horrific attack in southern Italy have been confirmed. The victims — burned alive inside a minivan in the Amendolara area of Cosenza province, Calabria — have been named as:
Waseem Khan (29) — Pakistani national, Amin Fazl Khwajiani (28), Safi Amjad (27), and Ismat Qayyumi (19) — all Afghan nationals.
The men were agricultural labourers employed in strawberry harvesting across the Calabria and Basilicata regions. They were attacked last Monday in what investigators are treating as a premeditated murder.
Italian police have arrested two Pakistani nationals, both aged 31, in connection with the killings. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the brutal attack.
The case has shocked Italy and drawn attention to the vulnerable conditions faced by migrant farm workers in the country’s agricultural south.
