LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana has directed Lahore Police to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), following the successful security operations carried out during Ashura.
The directives were issued during a performance review meeting of the Iqbal Town and Saddar divisions held at the Capital City Police Headquarters. The CCPO expressed satisfaction with the security measures implemented during Ashura and instructed officers to maintain the same high level of vigilance for the upcoming religious events.
Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy against social crimes, Bilal Siddique Kamyana ordered an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and gambling dens across Lahore. He also warned that the wrongful arrest of any citizen would not be tolerated, stressing that transparency, fairness, and justice must remain central to all criminal investigations.
The CCPO directed officers to prioritize investigations into financial crimes to ensure prompt relief for victims and improve public confidence in law enforcement.
Reviewing local security initiatives, he noted that the installation of security barriers in residential areas had produced encouraging results. He instructed police to coordinate with the management of housing societies to promote the concept of gated communities as part of broader crime prevention efforts.
He also ordered the revival of the traditional Thikri Pehra (community night watch) system in rural areas to help prevent burglaries and thefts.
Emphasizing strict enforcement of the law, the CCPO directed police to intensify operations against active burglars and thieves and ensure their swift arrest. He further ordered indiscriminate action against the display of illegal weapons, vehicles with tinted windows, and the ostentatious “Dallah culture,” urging officers to adopt modern and professional policing techniques to combat crime more effectively.
Earlier, participants offered Fateha and expressed condolences over the death of the sister of SP Saddar (Investigation).
The meeting was attended by DIG (Administration) Imran Kishwar, DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, SSP (Investigation) Muhammad Naveed, SSP (Operations) Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, along with divisional SPs, ASPs, Circle Officers, SHOs, and Investigation In-charges of the Iqbal Town and Saddar divisions.
