LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana has reaffirmed the Lahore Police’s commitment to making the provincial capital the safest city for women and children, describing the Virtual Women Police Station as an effective platform for ensuring women’s safety, providing legal guidance, and delivering prompt justice.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the CCPO said Lahore Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children. He added that police personnel are working round the clock to assist victims of gender-based violence and harassment.

Bilal Siddique Kamyana directed investigating officers to ensure the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of complainants while handling cases involving women. He emphasized that prompt action, merit-based investigations, and speedy justice in offences against women remain among the Lahore Police’s top priorities.

According to the Lahore Police spokesperson, the Virtual Women Police Station has received more than 60,300 calls during the current year. Legal action has been completed on over 62,000 calls, while inquiries are currently underway on 295 applications.

The spokesperson further stated that 858 criminal cases have been registered on the basis of complaints received through the Virtual Women Police Station, with legal proceedings continuing in accordance with the law.
