Practical measures underway to provide workers with housing, education and healthcare facilities: Manshaullah Butt

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Muhammad Manshaullah Butt met a delegation of the All Pakistan Trade Union Federation (APTUF). Vice Commissioner Social Security Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema was also present at the meeting, while the delegation was led by APTUF General Secretary Rubina Jameel. Other office-bearers of the federation also attended.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on key issues relating to the welfare of workers, including housing facilities, education, healthcare, minimum wage, and the effective implementation of labour laws for domestic workers, brick kiln workers, and contract workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Muhammad Manshaullah Butt said that practical measures are being taken in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure better facilities for workers. He stated that every possible effort is being made to ensure compliance with the minimum wage so that every worker receives their rightful earnings on time.

He further said that deserving workers are being provided with maximum relief through various welfare initiatives, including the Maryam Nawaz Rashan Card programme. He added that continuous efforts are also being made to further improve the quality of education in Workers Welfare Schools and healthcare services in Social Security hospitals.

The Provincial Minister reaffirmed the commitment to providing workers with better housing, educational, medical, and social facilities, stating that these remain among the government’s top priorities.

The delegation appreciated the government’s efforts to address workers’ issues and promote their welfare, while also presenting a number of proposals. The Provincial Minister assured the delegation that the suggestions would be given due consideration and necessary measures would be taken.
