LAHORE: On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique visited the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) Rawalpindi and reviewed healthcare facilities and services being provided to patients.

During his visit, the provincial minister inspected various departments of the hospital and reviewed the available medical facilities. He also interacted with patients visiting the hospital for treatment and inquired about the quality of healthcare services being provided to them.

Later, an important meeting was held at PKLI Rawalpindi under the chairmanship of Khawaja Salman Rafique. The minister was given a detailed briefing on the institution’s performance, healthcare facilities and administrative affairs.

Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said the Punjab government’s programme to provide free kidney and liver transplant facilities on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz would be launched soon.

He congratulated the medical team of PKLI Rawalpindi on successfully performing two liver transplants, describing the achievement as a major milestone for the institution.

The provincial health minister said providing world-class healthcare facilities to the people was among the top priorities of the Punjab government.

He said patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases were being provided modern medical facilities at PKLI Rawalpindi. He added that patients from Punjab as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the northern areas and Azad Jammu and Kashmir were visiting the hospital to receive treatment.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said the Punjab government was taking practical steps to improve the quality of healthcare services across the province. He added that people from other provinces were also appreciating the initiatives being taken by the Punjab government in the health sector.
