Moscow Angered by UK Missile Supplies to Ukraine, Warns of “Catastrophic Consequences” If London Doesn’t Abandon Aggressive Policy
Moscow (Agency): Russia has sharply reacted to the United Kingdom’s supply of missiles to Ukraine, threatening to target British military installations. According to media reports, Russia has issued a stark warning to Britain that if Ukraine uses long-range British cruise missiles to strike Russian territory, Moscow reserves the right to target all British military facilities both inside and outside Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova issued the warning during a press briefing in Moscow, in what is being described as Russia’s harshest response against Britain to date. She stated bluntly that the UK has come dangerously close to becoming complicit in actions against Russian civilians, and that if it does not abandon its aggressive policy, the consequences will be catastrophic.
The Russian spokeswoman said that in response to British weapons being used to strike Russian territory, any British military target and equipment — whether inside Ukraine or beyond its borders — could be destroyed. She advised British leadership to recognize the gravity of the situation and immediately abandon this dangerous policy, which she said is pushing the conflict toward an extremely perilous level.
This heated statement comes at a time when Russia has accused Ukraine of firing British-made “Storm Shadow” missiles at a shopping center in the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, injuring several civilians, including children.
It is worth noting that British leadership had earlier announced plans to provide Ukraine with technology enabling it to begin domestic production of long-range “Storm Shadow” cruise missiles.
