ISLAMABAD — Report by muhammad Saleem
Security arrangements in the federal capital have been significantly tightened following calls for protests and long marches by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami, and farmers’ organizations.
A high-level meeting held in Islamabad decided that the planned long march would be stopped at all costs. As part of the security plan, the Red Zone has been completely sealed off with shipping containers to prevent protesters from accessing the sensitive area.
Additional containers have also been placed at the city’s entry points, which is expected to cause disruptions to traffic and daily commuting for residents. Meanwhile, all leaves for Islamabad Police personnel have been cancelled, effective from today until the 10th of next month, to ensure adequate manpower is available in case of any emergency.
