Washington: US Vice President JD Vance has declined to endorse or oppose Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s re-election bid ahead of Israel’s parliamentary election on October 27.
In an interview with Mark Halperin on “2WAY Tonight,” Vance said he endorses American candidates and is focused on the US midterm elections, adding that he would not get involved in Israeli politics.
He clarified that his position was not hostile toward Netanyahu, saying: “I’m not anti-endorsing him. I’m not pro-endorsing him. I’m not getting involved in Israeli elections.”
Vance’s remarks contrast with President Donald Trump, who announced his “complete and total endorsement” of Netanyahu on Truth Social on Sunday. Trump praised the Israeli leader’s wartime leadership and strategic partnership with Washington, particularly in confronting Iran.
Trump also warned Israeli voters that choosing an alternative prime minister could leave the United States to shoulder regional security burdens alone
