Karachi Community Germany hosts cultural event; prayers offered for flood victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Frankfurt (Irfan Ahmed Khan ) Members of the Pakistani diaspora in Germany observed Pakistan’s Independence Day with a modest yet vibrant ceremony organized by Karachi Community Germany on Saturday, August 16, in the Gallus district of Frankfurt.
The hall was decorated with banners featuring national leaders and a large waving Pakistani flag. The event, originally scheduled to be presided over by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany, Ms. Syeda Saqlain, was scaled down after devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa claimed hundreds of lives. Following government guidance, organizers dedicated the gathering to prayers for the victims while keeping celebrations simple.
Highlights of the evening included a quiz program for children on Pakistan’s independence movement and its leaders, which kept the audience engaged and reinforced historical knowledge. The program also featured live amateur music, followed by a communal dinner.
Speaking to Voice of Germany, Karachi Community founder Azad Hussain said the organization reflects the spirit of Karachi as a city of diverse ethnicities. “We welcome every Pakistani to join us, regardless of religion or politics. Just as Karachi is a bouquet of communities, our organization aims to represent the same in Germany,” he remarked.
The event concluded with an atmosphere of unity and solidarity, underscoring the strength of the Pakistani community abroad.
