LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has sharply criticized Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Hassan Murtaza, saying the PPP must decide whether it will remain silent on his “irresponsible” statement or compel others to respond.
Azma Bokhari questioned whether Hassan Murtaza was “conspiring against his own leadership,” adding that if anyone owes an apology, “it should be to Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto, who have failed to rein in such defeated elements within their ranks.”
She said the PPP often raises slogans of democracy but never misses a chance to malign others. “On one hand, they talk about democratic values, and on the other, they target our leadership without justification,” she added.
The minister urged the PPP leadership to take immediate notice of Murtaza’s statement, emphasizing that “a few PPP leaders who faced defeat in Punjab are unable to tolerate their own party being in power and stable.”
