Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed appreciation to Pakistan for considering the possibility of deploying military troops to Gaza as part of efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
Speaking at a press conference in Washington, Rubio said that Pakistan, along with several other countries, had raised questions regarding the proposed Gaza peace framework and subsequently indicated its willingness to consider participating in a potential security or stabilization mission.
Responding to a question on whether Pakistan had formally conveyed its consent to send troops to Gaza for maintaining law and order, Rubio stated that the United States was grateful to Pakistan for offering to be part of the Gaza peace plan, or at least for seriously considering the proposal.
He added that Pakistan and other countries were seeking further clarity on certain aspects of the plan, noting that only after addressing these concerns would Washington formally request any country to contribute troops to the initiative.
The US Secretary of State further said he was confident that several countries were acceptable to all parties involved in the conflict and were prepared to step forward to become part of a future Gaza Stabilization Force.
