LAHORE — An important meeting on minority graveyard land was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora, during which officials were directed to immediately identify areas lacking graveyard facilities and submit district-wise reports and proposals without delay.
The minister said that implementation of the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is ongoing, emphasizing that the provision of dignified burial sites for minority communities is a top priority of the provincial government.
Arora stated that existing graveyards will be cleaned and provided with proper boundary walls. In the short term, urgent repairs and essential facilities will be ensured, while in the long term, land will be allocated for the establishment of new minority graveyards where needed.
The meeting also underscored the need for special development schemes focused on restoration. Proposed improvements include construction of access roads, provision of water supply, installation of lighting and strengthened security arrangements.
The session was attended by Punjab Assembly members Baba Fabolous Christopher, Shakeel Javed Arthur, Tariq Masih Gul, Ijaz Alam and Immanuel Athar, along with Secretary of Human Rights Fareed Ahmed Tarar and Parliamentary Secretary Sonia A. Shar.
