Sanaa/Beirut: Tensions in the Middle East have escalated once again. Yemen’s Houthis have announced the closure of the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait, while Lebanon’s Hezbollah has rejected any unilateral ceasefire.
Hussein al-Ezzi, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Houthi government in Sanaa, stated that if Sanaa decides to close the Bab al-Mandeb, then all of mankind and jinn will be utterly powerless to open it. He warned US President Donald Trump and the “complicit world” to immediately stop obstructing peace and respect the rights of the Yemeni people and nation.
On the other hand, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem, in an interview, delivered a clear message that a unilateral ceasefire is an insult to Lebanon. He said resistance against Israeli aggression will continue and no unilateral truce will be accepted.
These statements come amid the ongoing Iranian blockade in the Strait of Hormuz and regional conflicts, raising serious concerns at the global level.
