On the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, a total of 597 combing and search operations were conducted under the supervision of SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza and the concerned zonal Superintendents of Police (SPs).
These operations involved personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), local police stations, other law enforcement agencies, and lady police officers to ensure thorough and inclusive checking.
During the operations, police checked 57,961 individuals and more than 25,000 households. Authorities also inspected 6,871 shops and 2,188 hotels. Additionally, 19,343 motorcycles and 6,884 vehicles were thoroughly searched.
As a result, 3,383 suspicious individuals, including 362 illegally residing Afghan nationals, were detained and shifted to relevant police stations for verification. Police also took 109 vehicles and 1,751 motorcycles into custody.
Under the “Weapon-Free Islamabad” campaign, significant recoveries of illegal arms were made, including 12 Kalashnikovs, 4 rifles, 8 guns, 64 pistols of various calibers, 6 daggers, and a large quantity of ammunition.
In line with the “Nasha Ab Nahi” (No More Drugs) movement, police recovered 5 kg hashish, 6 kg heroin, 5 kg ice (methamphetamine), and 87 bottles of liquor from drug traffickers.
IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi emphasized that maintaining peace and tranquility in Islamabad remains the top priority. He stated that indiscriminate actions against criminal elements and illegal activities will continue without any leniency.
“These combing operations are aimed at preventing crime and ensuring a safe environment for citizens,” the IGP added. He appreciated the professional commitment of the police force and stressed that sustainable peace can only be achieved with the active cooperation of the public.
Citizens have been urged to fully cooperate with the police during checking and to immediately report any suspicious activity to their nearest police station or the emergency helpline Pucar-15.
