Washington,— US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is preparing a new proposal aimed at satisfying American demands, as negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program continue amid heightened tensions.
In a phone interview with Reuters on Friday, Trump stated that Iran is “making an offer” intended to address US concerns. However, he added cautiously: “We’ll have to see what Iran brings to the table.”
Trump emphasized that the United States is determined to secure a firm commitment from Iran that it will never develop nuclear weapons. He reiterated that any final deal must prevent Iran from acquiring atomic capabilities, including strict limits on uranium enrichment and enhanced international oversight.
The statement comes against the backdrop of recent US-Iran hostilities, a fragile ceasefire, and ongoing diplomatic efforts. Trump has repeatedly warned that without a satisfactory agreement, military options remain on the table. Iran has not yet publicly confirmed the preparation of any new offer.
The core US demands reportedly include a complete halt to uranium enrichment (or significant long-term suspension), removal or dilution of Iran’s existing stockpile of highly enriched uranium, restrictions on ballistic missiles, and an end to support for regional proxy groups.
Analysts note that while Trump describes the potential deal as “far better” than the 2015 JCPOA (which he withdrew from during his first term), significant gaps remain between the two sides. Talks are reportedly expected to resume, possibly in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The development is being closely watched by the international community due to its potential impact on regional stability, global oil prices, and the broader Middle East security architecture.
