Hajj 1447: Saudi Arabia Deploys Largest-Ever Medical & Security Shield for Pilgrims

Mecca — As millions of pilgrims converge on the holy sites for Hajj 1447H, Saudi Arabia has activated its most comprehensive medical and security infrastructure to date, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to pilgrim safety and welfare.
Saudi Health Minister Fahad Al-Jalajel conducted an extensive field inspection, confirming the deployment of over 3,000 ambulances of various types and 11 air ambulance aircraft dedicated to critical patient transfers. The minister reviewed operational readiness across multiple agencies and assessed real-time service delivery standards.
Among the notable innovations on display, the National Unified Procurement Company (NUPCO) unveiled drone delivery systems for rapid distribution of medicines and medical supplies to hard-to-reach areas. The General Authority for Food and Drug (SFDA) showcased advanced field monitoring systems equipped with specialised refrigerators and body cameras to ensure the integrity of pharmaceutical supply chains throughout the season.
The Health Holding Company presented cutting-edge fleet management systems alongside electric ambulance bikes and scooters, designed to navigate dense crowds and provide first-response care within seconds. The Saudi Red Crescent Authority also demonstrated its diversified fleet, which includes high-speed response vehicles, electric golf carts, motorcycles, bicycles, and air evacuation services for life-threatening emergencies.
On the security front, Saudi Arabia has placed all areas surrounding the holy sites on high alert, with the release of footage showing the installation of advanced defence systems around Mecca and its environs — underscoring the Kingdom’s zero-tolerance approach to any threat during the sacred season.
