Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, chaired a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office to review the overall security situation of the federal capital, counter-terrorism operations, and pending legal matters.
The meeting was attended by SSP Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Islamabad, Saud Khan, and AIG Legal, Tahir Kazim. Detailed discussions were held on ongoing counter-terrorism measures, intelligence-based actions, emerging security threats, and strategies to enhance the professional capacity and operational effectiveness of the Islamabad Police.
Counter-Terrorism Under Focus
IGP Rizvi conducted a thorough review of ongoing counter-terrorism operations and intelligence-based actions. He directed officers to further strengthen the counter-terrorism framework in light of the evolving security environment, stressing the critical need for improved intelligence coordination among all departments to ensure timely identification and effective mitigation of potential threats.
Legal Matters to Be Fast-Tracked
The meeting also reviewed progress in pending legal cases, prosecution effectiveness, and judicial proceedings. The IGP directed that all outstanding legal matters be addressed on a priority basis through a comprehensive and coordinated strategy to ensure timely delivery of justice.
Capacity Building Emphasised
IGP Rizvi underscored the importance of enhancing the professional capabilities of the police force through modern training and capacity-building programmes, enabling officers to deliver high-quality policing services to the public.
Reiterating the force’s unwavering commitment, the IGP stated that Islamabad Police will utilise all available resources to protect citizens’ lives and property, maintain law and order, and counter all possible threats of terrorism.
“Through coordinated efforts, Islamabad Police will continue its mission to make the federal capital a safe and peaceful city,” he added.
