LAHORE: A prestigious ceremony was held at a local educational institution in Lahore to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, highlighting the enduring friendship, cultural harmony, and growing educational cooperation between the two countries.
The event was attended by the Chinese Consul General in Lahore, Sun Yan, as the chief guest. During her visit, she toured the institution’s Chinese Language Center and interacted with students in the Chinese language.
Senior academic officials warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and underscored the importance of Pakistan-China relations, particularly the expanding collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchange.
The main ceremony, held at the institution’s central auditorium, attracted a large gathering of teachers, students, and members of civil society. Participants were shown a documentary tracing the history of Pakistan-China relations, while highlights from last year’s celebrations of China’s National Day were also presented.
Adding a cultural dimension to the event, students performed songs inspired by both Chinese and Punjabi traditions, earning widespread appreciation from the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Sun Yan praised the cordial relationship between the institution and the Chinese Consulate and commended the students for their talent and impressive cultural performances.
She announced that scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students would continue and said efforts would be intensified to further strengthen educational, research, and cultural cooperation with Chinese universities.
“The younger generation can play a vital role in deepening the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China,” she said.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield to the chief guest. A special cake decorated with the national flags of Pakistan and China was also cut to mark the 75-year milestone in diplomatic relations.
A high-tea reception followed, providing participants with an opportunity to discuss future avenues of cooperation and strengthen people-to-people connections between the two friendly nations.
