LGH Treats Over 2.5 Million Patients in Emergency & OPD in 12 Months

LAHORE: Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has provided quality healthcare services to more than 2.5 million patients through its Emergency and Out-Patient Departments (OPD) during the past financial year, reflecting the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif under the initiatives “Health for All” and “Patient First.”
The achievements were highlighted during a joint meeting of the Academic Council and administrative doctors, chaired by Principal Amiruddin Medical College, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal. Addressing the meeting, he said the hospital’s foremost priority is to ensure timely and high-quality medical care for every patient without unnecessary delays. He credited effective coordination, improved management, and patient-friendly policies for the hospital’s outstanding performance across all departments.
Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal also commended the dedication and professionalism of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff, praising their unwavering commitment to serving humanity.
Presenting the hospital’s annual performance report, Medical Superintendent Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain said that LGH carried out 116,473 major and minor surgeries, admitted 74,234 inpatients, and performed more than 2.45 million laboratory tests during the last 12 months.
He added that the hospital’s diagnostic departments recorded significant achievements, conducting 314,031 X-rays, 135,342 ultrasound examinations, 92,641 ECGs, 76,531 CT scans, 19,144 MRI scans, 18,203 dialysis sessions, and 6,746 gastroenterology procedures over the same period.
Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal and Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain acknowledged the guidance of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and the hospital administration’s proactive management for ensuring the efficient utilization of available resources.
They also highlighted the hospital’s welfare initiative of providing free daily breakfast and meals to patients and their attendants through the support of philanthropists, significantly reducing the financial burden on underprivileged families.
The hospital administration reaffirmed its commitment to further enhancing healthcare standards and continuing to provide the highest possible level of medical care and relief to patients in the future.
