LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has announced the restoration of two passenger train services that were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways, the Baboo Passenger train, operating between Lahore and Lalamusa, will resume service on August 20, while the Sandal Express, running between Multan and Sargodha via Jhang, will be restored on August 21.
Both train services had remained suspended since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The spokesperson said the decision to resume the services was taken in response to persistent public demand and in the best interest of Pakistan Railways.
Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that additional train services would also be restored during the current year. He added that passenger facilities would be further improved in line with the vision of the Prime Minister to provide safer, more efficient and passenger-friendly railway services across the country.
